The Weekend Review and ShockCast 001

Okay, I’ve decided to launch into something a little new, since I don’t talk so much about the news during the week. Sometimes I will, but often I won’t. I also want to provide something of a compilation of the week’s news to help you stay on top of what is important.

The Weekend ShockCast won’t be all the news, but it will be the most important.

Lord willing, this will go out on Friday afternoons (EST). So, join me for the very first Weekend Review and ShockCast.

Technical Difficulties – Hillbilly ISP

I love Hillbillies. I went to school with one, and there’s nothing like a physicist that’s one hundred percent hillbilly. They are often some of the best people, and I have enjoyed being around them. And, I genuinely like the Taiwanese version of the Hillbilly. Most of the time. Unfortunately, this is not one of them.

Internet Service Providers (ISPs) with a YEE HAW attitude are terrible at service or providing. And it seems that, down here in Tainan, the local office of our ISP is run by hillbillies with a little too much Yee Haw in attitude and technical skill.

They have successfully knocked us off of the Internet for several days, for reasons that are so trivial that my head is about to explode. And no, even though it’s their own fault, they will not fix it until their Yee Haw technician stumbles into the office and blinks blearily at his work schedule, on Monday. He probably knows the way to our apartment building by heart, since he’s been here so often, messing up the Internet connection of every single apartment in our building at least once over the past few weeks.

We Forgot that God is JUST

One of the most pernicious movements to sweep the church is this idea that God is a kindly old man who wouldn’t hurt a fly and is willing and ready to overlook any and all sin. Along with it came an easy-believism and permission to ‘follow your heart’.

Truth was optional, and the Old Testament didn’t reflect God, anymore.

What we forgot in the process was that God doesn’t change. Ever. We forgot that the sins that made Him angry four thousand years ago, make Him angry today.

We forgot that God is JUST.

The Road Ahead – 2018

I am so bad at prognostication, that I won’t really try to tell you what WILL happen. The best that I can do is describe the threats. These threats have been looming larger and larger with each passing year. And, some of them are new.

Please treat these seriously.

My hope is that we will have another year where we successfully dodge the bullets being fired at us. But, there is a limit to how often we can do that.

Will we run out of ‘luck’ in 2018?

WEEKEND SHOCKCAST: Beast Rider

We spend a lot of time trying to figure out who and what The Beast is, but seemingly very little time looking for the woman who rides The Beast. And, there are some interesting challenges that we have in trying to figure out the identity of The Great Whore.

The Book of Revelation gives us clues to the identity of The Great Whore. But, even though those clues are definitive, they still leave us with more questions than answers. I have tried to answer as many of those questions as possible, this week. And, the reason why I have tried to do that is wrapped up in a command by God found in Revelation 18.

WEEKEND SHOCKCAST: Cycles of Doom

There’s a certain rhythm to the Universe. And, each part of the Universe has its own distinct tempo. Each pulse and pattern rumbles and beats according to a cadence set by our Great Composer.

We see it everywhere, yet we often fail to see it in ourselves and in the mass of people that we call civilization. So, when Martin Armstrong, Nikolai Kondratiev, or Raymond Wheeler demonstrate that there is a cycle to human existence, we scoff at the idea.

Why?

Because it demonstrates a severe limitation to freewill, and we don’t like that – which is completely understandable, although foolish.

WEEKEND SHOCKCAST: Ecumenicism, Elections and the Saudis

Yesterday, I was so caught up in the idea of rhythms and cycles that I didn’t leave myself enough time for writing. So, if you were wondering why there was no Shock Letter, that was one part of the reason. However, I also have a Bible class that I teach on Fridays, so that’s the other part.

Lord willing, I will be able to write about what I think about the rhythms and cycles that we see in history, and talk about what those rhythms and cycles tell us about the future. Hopefully, bad news will take the week off, so that we can talk about all that.

WEEKEND SHOCKCAST: A Week Between

This week was one of those quiet moments in time in between waves of awful news – a moment that allows you to put awful events into perspective, as well as talk about other issues that need to be addressed. There is, after all, a bigger picture and more things going on in the world than Ebola, World War III and the fall of the American Empire.

So, as the next wave of pandemic, war and financial collapse gathers itself for another attempt to swamp our lives with awful news, we have the opportunity to connect some other dots and look at other problems.

WEEKEND SHOCKCAST: Ebolinsanity

We have gone insane. We have one group of people who have thrust their heads firmly in the sand, claiming that there is nothing to fear from Ebola. We have another group that is rapidly growing in size and hysteria. This group will quickly take over everyone else, except for the third group. The third group is made up of those who have quietly and carefully chosen a life of preparedness. This third group looks at Ebola as just another of many threats, and has made some adjustments to their lives in response. They aren’t hysterical. They don’t have their … Read more

WEEKEND SHOCKCAST: Escape the Asylum

I want to believe that America can be rescued. I want America to be that shining city on a hill that beckons the nations of the world to truth, righteousness and freedom. I want her to be one nation under God. I want her to be the country that demonstrates the love of Christ to the world.

Unfortunately, America is NOT that country, and cannot be that country unless the Body of Christ in America turns from their wickedness, asks forgiveness from God and sincerely follows the Lord, in humility and truth.

Until that happens, there can be no hope of rescue for our beloved country. And, I do not see evidence that any of this is happening. If I did, I would be far more optimistic.
