The Dunning-Kruger Effect is Killing Us

Our world rushes into the Abyss with such stunning speed, that there seems to be little that we can do except stand open-mouthed in shock. To even attempt to warn the thundering herd of their insanity, is to risk bodily harm and even death. If you stand in the way, you will certainly be trampled. And, it seems to have everything to do with an observation by David Dunning and Justin Kruger.

The truly incompetent think that they are capable.

The truly capable worry that they are incompetent.

You see this everywhere, and it is an utterly amazing defect in our nature.

None so Blind as Those

The reason why the world is in so much trouble, is that we’ve been living in a fantasy world of our own design. And, as this fantasy unravels, we clutch at it more and more fiercely. Unfortunately for the fantasy-clutchers, the fabric has already torn and reality is becoming visible.

The only question is…

Will our fantasies die fast enough to deal with reality?

Or, will our fantasies persist for long enough for reality to destroy us?

I suspect that these lies have been hand-crafted, to defeat us and hasten our day of reckoning.

The Semitary

The rise of heresy is astonishing. Even though history records the rise of countless heretical movements and heretical ideas, nothing compares to the heresies that have arisen over the past two hundred years. And, their rise closely correlates to the advent of modern communication. But, as they say, correlation does not imply causation.

So, how did these heresies arise?

I have blamed the printing press, but there is an institution that should be looked at first. And, as the title of this piece indicates, we’re talking about The Semitary, more commonly known as the seminary.

And, like the grave plots that this word sounds like, the Seminary/Semitary is full of dead people.

Strong Delusion – Reasons

Delusions are dangerous. They can wreck your life, poison your family and get you sent to the hospital. They kill. They injure. And, they claim the lives of countless numbers of people, every year. Hitler murdered tens of millions with a delusion. Stalin, Mao and Planned Parenthood have done the same.

Worse, we have delusions that threaten our eternal destiny. Some will earn us a lessened reward in heaven. Some… SOME delusions will send us to the Lake of Fire.

The question is… WHY?

Why are we so willing to entertain and adopt these illusions, and then… eventually …The Strong Delusion?

Strong Delusion – Intro

Wickedness and stupidity are contagious. If you need evidence, just look around you. Read your local newspaper. Watch television. Go to the movies. You’ll see evidence for real evil and drooling idiocy, everywhere. But, there is something stronger coming, something that God will cause.

It’s called a Strong Delusion, and it’s a phrase that is used only once in the KJV. And, it specifically refers to the Last Days. And, I have some questions.

WHEN will this strong delusion come?

WHAT will it be?

HOW will it arrive?

…and…

DO we see it now?

I’m not sure that we can answer all these questions, but maybe we can shed some light on them.

Daniel’s 70th Week

There is a deception that weaves its way through our churches and the hearts of most followers of Christ. And, this deception is deadly, especially in these dark times. It grants permission for men and women to add to the Bible, man-made ideas. It distorts our view of Jesus Christ and our understanding of the Last Days. It plays a part in putting brothers and sisters in Christ, to sleep.

Even clear-thinking brothers and sisters have fallen prey to this deception. And, I find myself extremely annoyed, every time that I hear it. And, it’s high time that we stopped this foolishness.

Patriotism vs. God

Can you be a Christian and a Patriot?

Before you answer that question, let me remind you that you cannot be a follower of Christ, if you love ANYTHING more than God. In fact, the best definition of idolatry is the love of something, more than God.

So, are you a patriot?

Of course, your answer might change a bit if that nation is truly following God. The problem is that there isn’t any nation today that follows God, so the issue is moot. And, I’m afraid that I haven’t dealt with this question as well as I should, in my own life.

2019 – The Difficult Year

At the beginning of January, it is a tradition to try and forecast the events of the coming year. And, I’ve tried to do that, every year, with limited success. Timing is not my strength, as I have demonstrated over the past few years. Having said that, there aren’t many who have done any better. So, I’m in good company.

However, there is one thing that I can predict with a great deal of confidence:

2019 will be difficult.

My fear is that this will be a great understatement. I certainly hope that it will be smooth sailing with perfect sunsets and fields of green. But, don’t bet on it.

The Cat has Landed

Hi Everyone!

I had hoped to be up and running at full speed by now, but our move to Tainan became more than just a simple Christmas Eve move. It was one of the worst moves that I’ve done, partly because I’m a lot older than when I started down this road of living ‘overseas’.

More than 20 moves in more than 25 years. And, this from someone who HATES to move. Of course, each of those moves has been a way for God to convince me that I didn’t need as much stuff as I had. And, if I accumulated too much of that useless ‘stuff’, my back and knees would pay for it.

And, they do.

(sigh)
