I’ve been getting a number of questions about how to prepare for the disaster that is rolling down on us. They are good questions, and I have answers. However, there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Each one of you will face this challenge differently because each of you has a different situation.
Having said that, there ARE guidelines that fit all of us. Whether you have much, or little, you CAN prepare. So, let’s get into that.

What you need to have before getting ready
Personal Responsibility – As I traverse our ball of earth and sky, I notice that there seem to be very few people who take responsibility for their lives. When something goes wrong, someone else is always at fault. When jobs are lost or lives disrupted, the blame always lies on someone, and it isn’t themselves. This is a deadly attitude when preparing for disaster. You must take personal responsibility for your life.
Long Term Thinking – The developed world has become fixated on immediate gratification. We want everything now and aren’t willing to delay enjoyment. We acquire as many luxuries as humanly possible and pay for those luxuries with debt. You cannot survive what is coming by thinking this way. You must learn to deny yourself now to ensure your future.
Jesus – Without our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, you have nothing. There is no hope and no future without God the Son. If you have not made Him the purpose and center of your life, then there’s nothing else to talk about. I cannot imagine any kind of worthwhile survival plan that doesn’t have eternity as our goal.
If you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Savior – or if you are unsure of your connection to Him – I strongly encourage you to find someone who does. There is nothing, NOTHING more important than being a son or daughter of God. There is no hope without Jesus Christ.
So, let’s get ready.
Step 1 – Hold God Close
The first thing that you must do right now is draw close to God. If you are a child of God the Father, then He is ALWAYS the first answer in times of trouble. But, can you really expect His help, if you do not draw close to Him?
Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. – James 4:8
Please remember that this disaster is coming upon us because of our sin. We Christians have drifted away from God and have greatly sinned against Him. The only way that we are going to survive His judgment upon the world is to clean up our lives and seek righteousness with all our heart.
But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble. And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him. – Psalm 37:39-40
You MUST disentangle yourself from the evils of our society. Our culture has become unbelievably corrupt, and we enjoy that corruption far, far too much. So, get rid of your television. Stop watching movies. Get away from the mainstream.
Remember that it is the ‘mainstream’ that got us into this mess. Getting away from the mainstream is the only way out.
And, get a better church. If your church isn’t clued-in to what is happening, it’s time to find one that is. Yes, I know that this means giving up friends and even family, but time is up. You do not have the luxury of wasting time on those who have chosen to ignore the coming storm. Show them that you’re serious by taking action. What you do will always be more impressive than what you say.
Read. Your. Bible. If you aren’t reading your Bible every day, you need to ask yourself whether you are serious about being a follower of Christ. What we do now has a direct impact on eternity, which means that we are completely insane if we aren’t taking this opportunity to allow God to speak to us each and every day.
Pray. When Jesus told His disciples about all the terrible things that are in OUR future, they were dismayed and asked Jesus what they should do – expecting Him to give useful tips on survival. Here is what Christ said:
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. – Luke 21:36
That’s why Luke 21:36 will always be the touchstone for this website. It is the single most important message you need for your survival.
And, for those of you who claim to know Jesus. Please remember that it doesn’t matter if you know Him. The demons know Jesus.
What matters is if He knows YOU.
Does Jesus know you?
