2019 – The Difficult Year

At the beginning of January, it is a tradition to try and forecast the events of the coming year. And, I’ve tried to do that, every year, with limited success. Timing is not my strength, as I have demonstrated over the past few years. Having said that, there aren’t many who have done any better. So, I’m in good company.

However, there is one thing that I can predict with a great deal of confidence:

2019 will be difficult.

My fear is that this will be a great understatement. I certainly hope that it will be smooth sailing with perfect sunsets and fields of green. But, don’t bet on it.

The Cat has Landed

Hi Everyone!

I had hoped to be up and running at full speed by now, but our move to Tainan became more than just a simple Christmas Eve move. It was one of the worst moves that I’ve done, partly because I’m a lot older than when I started down this road of living ‘overseas’.

More than 20 moves in more than 25 years. And, this from someone who HATES to move. Of course, each of those moves has been a way for God to convince me that I didn’t need as much stuff as I had. And, if I accumulated too much of that useless ‘stuff’, my back and knees would pay for it.

And, they do.

God Has His Reasons

When God moves in the lives of His children, the reasons may appear to be one thing, when they are completely different. You might think that you’ve crashed and burned on the shoals of capricious events. You might not see any rhyme or reason for what is happening to you, but God sees things differently. And, if you are a true follower of Christ, for long enough, you will see a lot of this.

To put it another way, nothing happens by accident. Nothing. And, I take a great deal of comfort in that, and I hope that you do too.
