We spend a lot of time trying to figure out who and what The Beast is, but seemingly very little time looking for the woman who rides The Beast. And, there are some interesting challenges that we have in trying to figure out the identity of The Great Whore.
The Book of Revelation gives us clues to the identity of The Great Whore. But, even though those clues are definitive, they still leave us with more questions than answers. I have tried to answer as many of those questions as possible, this week. And, the reason why I have tried to do that is wrapped up in a command by God found in Revelation 18.
As we move ever deeper into the Last Days, the identity of the major players mentioned in the prophecies of these Last Days become ever more important. The world is going to suffer at the hands of those players, and we want to be ready when they come on the scene.
No one likes to be told that they are no longer the focus – that their time has passed. Think of all the has-been rock stars that make come-back attempts – or, the empires that make last-ditch efforts to rekindle what once was.
But, when God says it’s over…
And, when you say the words Last Days, that really is what you are saying. It’s over, and it’s time for the final scene. And, when I look back over the events that brought us to this point in time, I see that 1967 really was that moment in time, when The End began.
It can be REALLY hard to know who or what to believe. We can trust God, but we can’t always trust our ability to understand what He’s telling us. We can trust numbers, but not the reporter of those numbers. We might be able to trust a dream or vision – but not the interpretation.
Worse, we have lying liars who cloak themselves in righteous robes and tell us tall tales, so it’s hard to know WHAT to believe – and from whom to believe it. This age of lies and deception, has made it difficult to follow the Lord’s command in Luke 21:36, to watch.
Sometimes, the only thing that you can do is present the observation, indicate the uncertainty, and allow the hearer to be the judge.
I didn’t actually want to write about Biblical interpretation this week. There were so many other things that were happening, that it seemed a dereliction of duty to speak on this topic. But, I also realized that without a clear view of the Bible, everything that I write would be useless.
Without a clear direction by God, we have no hope of surviving what is coming. In fact, it will take a miracle, and we cannot expect miracles if we are not truly resting in His Word.
How can we say that we truly love God, if we twist His words?
It should be clear to all of you by now, that I am NOT a Dispensationalist. In fact, I didn’t really understand what dispensationalism was, until a friend ambushed me one day in church – demanding to know if I followed such an idea.
