Making Peace with Madness

Our world is doomed. I know that this is not something that you want to accept, and I’m with you on this one. But, it doesn’t change the fact that everyone around us is growing more and more insane by the day. And, we need to accept this fact.

I struggle with this, a lot. And, I know that you do too. You wouldn’t be a child of God, if you weren’t grieved by the wickedness and madness that surrounds you.

So, how do we keep the peace of God, while the world falls apart?

And, we are going to need to, if we truly desire to serve God in the midst of the coming darkness.

Fear God

With the unusual events of this past week and an impromptu family reunion in central Taiwan, I find myself on a different topic than what I wanted to talk about.

1 Thessalonians 5:9 and the Fall of America

When I wrote yesterday about the suddenness of disaster, I quoted 1 Thessalonians 5:3-7. And, I deliberately left out verse 9. I did that to prove a point. I did that to help you understand that your pastor may be a ‘peace and safety‘ pastor, causing you to ignore the sudden destruction that is coming.

You see, in verses three through seven, it is clear that Paul is telling us that we can avoid disaster by staying awake, watching for what is coming and then, by implication, taking steps to avoid the disaster that will take away those who preached ‘peace and safety‘. So, why do pastors use verse nine to preach ‘peace and safety’?
