The current, high tech civilization started dying a little over ten years ago. What began in the 1800s, races towards an inglorious end and the death of billions of people. And, you know nothing about this, because our dear leaders do not want you to know.
In fact, these same ‘dear leaders’ undoubtedly tell themselves that our fantastic empire will continue, that nothing can shake this great ship as it travels into the night. But, not all is as it seems, and that jolt you felt in 2008 was the same kind of iceberg that sank the unsinkable Titanic.
One of my many faults is my lack of patience with fools and foolishness. There just isn’t enough time to fix a fool, and I don’t have the energy for it. The only thing that I can do is point out the fools, so that the wise don’t get tarnished by their message. And yes, fools have a message, and they want you to buy it.
The only defense against a fool is wisdom. Some think that knowledge is the key, but it’s not. Knowledge is just an input to wisdom.
And, without wisdom, you have no hope for survival as our system dies.
After last week’s article, Hurricane Irma blundered through Florida and Georgia. Then, Typhoon Talim set its sights on my apartment building. However, Talim veered off to the North and didn’t do much more than rain on us, here in Taipei. But, Irma left a gigantic swath of destruction in her wake.
Half of Florida might be without power for weeks. People have been displaced. Lives and jobs disrupted and even ruined. And the loss of lives…
That was a terrible hurricane, and Florida hasn’t had one of those in a long time. But, I have an interesting observation, from all the typhoons that my wife and I have been through…
…did you notice how quiet and normal everything was, the day before?
The big news, this past week, has been Hurricane Harvey and the disaster inflicted upon Houston. The question in my mind – aside from my concern about the immediate suffering – is, what will happen to the economy and then the rest of the world? This is a very big deal, and we will only find out the answer to this question over the next weeks and months.
Pray for all who suffer, that the damage will be fixed with all due speed and that the people can get back to work. Otherwise, we’re all in a lot of trouble.
